FAQ

My hourly rate is $200 + GST.

Time is a valuable thing. Drawing for a tattoo does take some time. Sometimes an hour. Sometimes 20. Because I am drawing for multiple people each week, and given that there are only so many hours in the day, I get to drawing the designs on a priority based schedule. Meaning the designs are done in order of who is booked into my schedule.
Designs are show the day of the appointment, in person, and never sent out via email.
This ensures I do not encounter loss of designs, as they have been stolen in the past.

I do efficient consultations, so we are both on the same page of thinking for your design. Small changes can be accommodated at the time of the appointment, if needed. Any large scale changes will need to be rescheduled.

If you book in and change your mind prior to your tattoo appointment, those changes need to be addressed to me a minimum of 7 days in advance, to give me time to adjust my schedule to accommodate the change.

No. 18+ is required, even with parental consent.

No. Absolutely not.
It is not worth the risks involved with healing. Especially during vulnerable stages such as pre and post natal. Your body is already going through so much, healing so much, and has a lot of recovery left to do.
Please do not try to add to this.
A tattoo is forever. If it is worth having, it is worth waiting for.

I do offer touchups on a needed basis, for all tattoos. Most of these are free, if you do follow my pre and post tattoo care.
If you do not follow the care given, they will be subject to a 50% rate.
Hands, fingers, and feet are exempt from the free touchups, and are subject to a 50% rate, as these areas cannot be guaranteed for healing, due to the wear and tear on those areas of the body.

Absolutely!
I love making people happy by being able to offer these services.
They are not always easy, and we have to do the correct style of tattoo over them, but they can be covered!
And yes, colour can cover! Black outs are not necessary to cover a tattoo.

Absolutely!
I am not above tattooing something small and simple.
Sometimes these mean the most to my clients, and I am happy to deliver!

Yes!
When booking your appointment on my website, if the date you want is booked, you can select the “Add to waitlist” button at the bottom. This will automatically add you to the waitlist and if that time opens up, you will be contacted to come in!

Cash is preferred!
I also accept E-Transfer, Interact Debit, Visa, and Mastercard.

No!
Tips are never expected, but always appreciated!

If you feel that I have gone above and beyond for you, and you are happy with the work you have received, you may feel like tipping.
I always appreciate any tip! I will never expect a tip from you.

Please don’t feel like you HAVE to pay a tip. We all have bills to pay and money can be tight. I understand this! I won’t ever make you feel like you are pressured into a tip (you never should be pressured for this!) and please do not feel embarrassed or put on the spot for it.

Tips can be at any price point. Usual tips tend to be 15%-25%, but they can come in other forms, as well! Some people bring gift certificates. Sometimes unique artwork that you find that I may like could be a tip, as well!

This is completely up to you.
And I thank you in advance for a tip you may feel is worth giving!

Booking an appointment is an easy process!
Under my contact page, click the “book now” option.
It will bring you to my booking page. You can select from consultation, small tattoo, half day, full day, touch up, and/or photoshoot.

If you are looking to start a new piece, please fill out the consultation form on my contact page, first. Then book the consultation. We can book your appointment right at the consultation.
If you are looking to continue a tattoo piece, please feel free to book the time slot you are looking for!
If it is a small tattoo, you can book directly on the page, as well.
Please email me with any and all relevant information.

And check out my consultation question for more information.

To prepare for your consultation, please do the following!
Bring with you all reference material for your idea. This can be printed off, or better yet, digital that can be emailed to me during the consultation, if you have not done so yet.
Have an idea of where you want your tattoo to be placed. If you are unsure and need a professional opinion, I am more than willing to help. Having an idea or two is helpful, and as it is going on your body forever, it is ultimately your choice. But I am here to help guide you to what would and what would not work in terms of longevity as well as aesthetically pleasing.
Knowing whether you would like your tattoo to be in colour or black and grey will also help, but if you are unsure of this, we can discuss the options!
If you have any health issues that you are concerned about, this is a good opportunity to discuss these. Scarring, diabetes, heart issues, allergies, etc. This is to prepare me to lead you to the right decisions, as well as keep you healthy during the process!

Not necessarily. If it is a small design, or a basic, straightforward piece, generally we do not need one. Just an email will suffice.
However, it is a better practice, so we can meet face to face, we can discuss any concerns or questions you may have, and we can find the best possible design ideas/placement for your artwork.
For larger designs, coverups, scars, etc, yes, an in person consultation is preferred, as we can plan for your artwork in a much easier way.

Booking fees are charged at the time of booking the appointment and are non-refundable. This covers the artist’s time spent in designing the tattoo and if you do not show up for your tattoo or give enough notice for a cancellation, the deposit is forfeit to cover the artist’s lost time.
They are held in trust until your last appointment and come off of the price of the tattoo in the end. If it is a single session tattoo, it is subtracted from the total. If it is a multi-session piece, it gets carried over until your last appointment, as it is used for the booking fee for each session until the end.

72 hours notice is required to cancel and/or reschedule.
Life does happen. We totally understand this!
If you cannot make it in for your appointment and it is after that 72 hour period, PLEASE call or email, so we do not worry about you.
No call/no shows will not be rebooked.

This is an option for the future! Please refer back in time.

This is coming soon! Keep your eye open, and I will soon be having a mailing list to inform everyone of these days. Once this mailing list is open, you can subscribe to get updates!

This will be determined soon and will be updated.

It takes generally 2-3 weeks, on average, for your tattoo to finish peeling.
Many believe a tattoo is healed after this length of time.
However, this time frame is for the wound to not be exposed anymore.
It does take 6 months to a year to fully heal a tattoo. You may not notice this, as your skin on top looks healed, but for your body to regenerate the collagen and to finish healing beneath the epidermis, it takes much longer.
You will notice it when you are out in the sun- it can burn much faster, and feel hotter than the rest of your skin. You can also notice it if you scratch the area. It will be much more sensitive, but also can be damaged much more easy.
Give it time and your skin will regain its strength!

Minimum 2 weeks or until the tattoo has finished peeling. Any bacteria can enter the tattoo prior to that and can cause infections.
It is also not a good idea to soak a tattoo, as it will not heal properly, and lead to more infections and loss of the tattoo.

Wait a minimum of 3 weeks before you tan. You want to make sure your tattoo is properly healed.
Keep in mind, the skin will be weaker due to the healing process, and can burn much faster than normal. Cover your tattoo with some sort of block, like a cloth, and utilize sunscreen!

Avoid tanning at least 2 weeks prior to getting your tattoo. Having darker complexion different than your typical can lead to colours not working properly with your skin type, and can lead to dull colours.
After getting tattooed and it heals, make sure you utilize sunscreens, because UV rays can affect the colour of the tattoo and can fade it.

Using spray tans before getting a tattoo is not a good idea. The chemicals in the spray tan do not coincide with tattoo ink safely, and you do not want it to enter your bloodstream during the process. It can lead to skin irritations and infections.
Avoid before getting a tattoo.
During the healing process, stay away from spray tanning. Again, having those chemicals sprayed on while a tattoo is healing can lead to infections.
Avoid during the healing.
After your tattoo is healed, it is fine to get a spray tan. However, keep in mind that it can dull your tattoo, temporarily, until the tan has faded.

Working out after getting a tattoo is generally not a good idea. A tattoo is an open wound, and therefore is susceptible to infections. Gyms and other forms of fitness centers can harbor many different types of bacteria, in which can enter your body through the open wound.

For those who do not like to skip out on workouts, it is suggested to do light workouts, mainly walking, as long as it does not irritate the area of the tattoo. Any pulling and or sweating over a new tattoo can lead to many issues in healing your tattoo.

Generally speaking, wait a week or two, or until your tattoo has finished peeling, so that it is no longer considered an open wound, before returning to your usual workouts.

Yes! My ink is classified as vegan. No animal by-products are used in the making of them.

No. Latex products are deemed inferior to others. I use powder free nitrile gloves. If you have an allergy to nitrile (which is rare but can happen), please inform me ahead of time, so I can prepare using Neoprene gloves, which is an alternative to Nitrile, with the highest safety abilities of Nitrile, but they are made with different materials.

Yes, I am in full compliance with all OHS and WHMIS standards. If you are unsure and would like to see product safety data sheets, we can arrange that during your consultation.

Your health and safety is first and foremost my most paramount aspect!

There are no guarantees about infections. There are many different types of infections, and getting a tattoo has a risk factor involved. This is a decision you will have to make, to go forward with your tattoo.
However, I am in full compliance with Alberta Health Services regulations and standards, as well as federal regulations and standards, and I go above their minimum requirements.
I do absolutely everything possible to create a clean environment for you during the tattoo process.

For prepping the skin, a mixture of blue soap and water is used to clean the skin. Shaving is done on a needed basis. I do not shave everyone, as shaving brings forth an extra risk bacteria to enter the body, so it is only used when necessary, and I take precautions before shaving. Washing with soap and water is the first step.
Your skin is also cleaned with an antiseptic cleanser.
During the process, your skin will be occasionally cleaned with soap and water, and an antiseptic solution is applied. Before bandaging, your skin is cleaned with again, soap and water, and an antiseptic solution is applied.

Following the aftercare instructions that are listed on my website, as well as given to you before you leave, it will ensure the best possible outcome for your tattoo.

Again, your health and safety is first and foremost my most paramount aspect!
Please be assured that I will do everything in my power to create the safest area for you to be tattooed.
However, once you leave, the rest is up to you, to follow my instructions to ensure the rest of the healing is done just as well as the beginning!
